In 1776, the scene of action for the Revolutionary War moved from Boston to the New York City area in part because of reports of a strong presence of colonists loyal to King George along the Hudson River. Was this true or just another unfounded hope by the British?
Join us for this special Revolutionary War 250th Anniversary kickoff lecture with Todd W. Braisted. He will examine the role New Yorks Hudson Valley played in supporting British efforts in the war, their leaders, and the corps in which they served. Their numbers and services and where they fought may surprise you.
About the presenter: Todd W. Braisted is an author and researcher of Loyalist military studies. Since 1979, he has amassed and transcribed tens of thousands pages of Loyalist and related material from archives and private collections around the world. He is the author of numerous journal articles and books and the creator of www.royalprovincial.com, a website dedicated to Loyalist military studies. H is a fellow in the Company of Military Historians and a past president of the Bergen County Historical Society. |
