Making Offerings to the Buddhas: Maitreyas Advice for Accumulating Merit and Wisdom
Online Event
Date: Saturday, November 8 Time: 1:00 pm PT Led by: Anthony Bruno (Tenzin Chödrak) Registration closes: November 7 at 10:00 am
To accumulate the vast merit and wisdom necessary for progressing on the path and attaining enlightenment, bodhisattvas make offerings to the buddhas as one of their main practices. The Buddhas regent, the loving protector Maitreya, provides timeliness advice on this practice in his treatise, The Ornament of Mahayana Sutras. Maitreya focuses on explaining the intent and purpose for making material and non-material offerings; the various ways in which bodhisattvas engage in this practice through their body, speech, and mind; and how to make this practice most meaningful and beneficial. In this class, we will review Maitreyas teaching together and discuss how to implement it in our daily lives. |
