The event will begin at the Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center (NWREC) in Mount Vernon, WA, with a field tour led by soil scientists and plant breeders and a buckwheat processing demonstration on our new sorter/peeler. We will then break for travel to the WSU Breadlab at the Port of Skagit in Burlington, WA, where we will reconvene for cooking demonstrations, including a soba presentation by cook, teacher and author Sonoko Sakai and a ployes presentation by Jan Bouchard of Bouchard Family Farms. The day will culminate with a tasting of buckwheat-based food products under tents outside of the Breadlab. We will have an eclectic array of innovative foods from amazing restaurants and bakeries such as Bens Bread, TOMO, Sarah Minnick, Sea Wolf, Café Lago and many more! Local breweries and cideries will be on site pouring as well. Hope to see you there! Kids under 5 are free of charge.
