Frederick Douglass said of the Freedman's Savings Bank,

It was the Black mans

cow but the white man's milk.

Thats because whites benefitted the most from a

bank that held the savings of ex-enslaved people. From 1865 to now, when the

majority of those who receive Affirmative Action are white, programs perceived as

Black programs serve whites the most.

With this history in mind, Ishmael Reed wrote Life Among The Aryans, based on

the premise that if the government paid descendants of slaves reparations, whites

would cash in.

Life Among The Aryans, premiered in 2018 at the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe. It follows

the lives of two white MAGA families as they wallow in conspiracy theories and

turn their fates over to a charismatic leader. Life Among The Aryans is the play that

predicted the January 6th Insurrection.

Directed by Sean Vaughn Scott, Life Among The Aryans will run from May 16th to

June 1st

, 2025 at the Black Repertory Group Theaters home: 3201 Adeline Street in Berkeley at the Birel L. Vaughn Theater.

Performances on Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 4 pm.
