Since the beginning of the USGBC and before, experts have striven to develop a sensible way to deal with toxic materials.  More recently, several major organizations have attempted to deal with the issue.  It was not until a special convergence of events took place several years ago that this new methodology was able to come into existence.  In essence, Bill Walsh and his Healthy Buildings Network, was able to partner with one of the top 5 companies in the world, namely Google, and develop a workable system of materials classification and analysis that is now starting to gain traction  partly due to the fact that it is being required/ accepted by major authorities involved in the code-making/enforcement process, such as Enterprise Green Communities and Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).
State and local building code compliance issues will be discussed, as well.  This session will review examples of recently completed installations and their associated results.
