November 16 - Gary Campbell's NEWCOMER: A Seattle Hip-Hop Mixtape

The Get Together is a monthly gathering for film and media makers, held every third Monday of the month. Currently, The Get Together will be held online via Zoom.
NEWCOMER is an intimate documentary film that is an introduction to Seattles vibrant hip-hop underground, assembled from hundreds of tiny performance clips into a single, continuous concert mosaic. The film was shot and edited by Canadian multimedia artist, journalist, and filmmaker Gary Campbell. For the past eight years, hes been documenting the distinctive hip-hop culture of the Pacific Northwest through writing, photography, video, zines, and events. Hes the Creative Director of the Crane City Music collection, an essential listening library of Seattle hip-hop on wax. Join us to talk about the film, and his process making it.
Each installment of The Get Together will feature up to 20 minutes of short film programming from local makers, followed by a group discussion, critique, and networking session. |
