The YOU Awards International is an organization that was specifically designed to provide support and recognition to young people who have stood out in their communities, but have not truly been celebrated. Every day we as a society are flooded with negative images and stories and rarely are we shown positive images and stories. The goal of this organization is to bring to the forefront these positive images and stories. We do this by seeking out extraordinary young people through research and recommendations by individuals, schools and other organizations. Our award recipients will be honored with a trophy and monetary gift (merit award) during the annual awards show. These individuals will be recognized for using their talents in the areas of education, sports, business, arts, entertainment, technology and community service.
The founder started this organization after several amazing years of volunteering for an internationally known awards show. She has always appreciated the idea of recognizing people who stood out in the world in their respective fields of work. Her thought was to take this concept to the next level and recognize young people who may be considered ordinary because there is no fame associated with them, but are exceptional in their everyday accomplishments.
Each year The YOU Awards International will recognize 7 talented young people from every walk of life. Honorees may be selected specifically from the Georgia, Louisiana and Texas states in initial years, but will grow to include other states thereafter. As an organization we wanted to hear their stories and reflect on their journeys to discover what it took to get where they currently are. Ultimately the goal of The YOU Awards International is to have the show televised so that we as an organization can show other young people around the world that we appreciate your efforts and we honor you because you are our future.
The founder came up with the name of the organization because we wanted to recognize YOU! The Y.O.U. in the name represents Young, Outgoing & Uplifting individuals. Everyone has a light to shine and want to help them shine even brighter!
