Impro Theatre, one of L.A.s longest established and most acclaimed improv theater groups, presents Tennessee Williams UnScripted.  This is their follow-up show to their well-reviewed, held-over run of Jane Austen UnScripted which ran from Oct 2008 through February 2009 at Theatre Asylum.

(Los Angeles, CA) (February, 2009)... Impro Theatre and C.A.F.E (Combined Art Form Entertainment) are proud to present  the world premiere of TENNESSEE WILLIAMS UNSCRIPTED, Impro Theatres new show, coming to Hollywoods Theatre Asylum beginning March 20, 2009.

About The Show
Tennessee Williams is one of the most celebrated and widely produced American playwrights. In an attempt to bring his genius to life through the medium of improvisational theatre, Impro Theater invents spontaneous full-length plays about troubled families, innocent outsiders and the haunted youths who destroy them that are true to Tennessee Williams intent to be both comic and dramatic. Without any pre-planning, or set scenarios, Impro Theatre uses their dynamic characterizations, poetical wits and narrative skills to deliver a new Tennessee Williams play every night. Drifters, Southern aristocrats, rebels, harpies and wounded youth all might be conjured out of thin air, without any actor knowing who they will be portraying until the story starts. Tennessee Williams UnScripted takes clichs from mid-century American realism and transforms them into in a wildfire of seduction and despair that leaves some hope glowing in the ashes.

The essence of Williams brilliant and timeless poetic dramas and bittersweet meditations on human frailty is brought faithfully to life by this expert team of funny and gifted actors, whose recent explorations of great literary figures include Shakespeare, Dickens, Sondheim, and Jane Austen.

Rave Reviews for Impro Theatres recent offering, Jane Austen UnScripted:

YOU GOTTA GO. One of the funniest evenings in town is tucked away in a little theater on Santa Monica Boulevard.  Its quite unbelievable, actuallyas you sit there expecting theater, suddenly two random suggestions come from the audience, and an amazing comedy troupe spins an entire play into comedy gold right before your eyes.  Its called Jane Austen Unscripted, a stunning feat of performance and literary wizardry.  And incidentally, its hilarious.  I promise you, this brainchild of English stand-up and actor Paul Rogan and Impro Theatres artistic director Dan OConnor is magic.

GO. Aside from its breathtaking wit, the show reveals the codes of behavior that accrue into a acting style, and even a social style. This is a comedy about essence rather than substance, revealing how one is so often confused with the other. If there is such a thing as humane comedy, this would be it.
