Thursday, June 25 8:45 PM The American Cinematheque and Beyond Fest are thrilled to kick off our special summer Drive-In series at the Mission Tiki Drive-In Theatre, located at 10798 Ramona Ave, Montclair, CA 91763. The event will include a double feature of MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and DEATH RACE 2000.
ARRIVE EARLY! We recommend arriving up to an hour and a half before showtime, as the line for entering the lot can take a long time. We will have a music playlist to entertain you as you enter. The drive-in opens at 7:45pm.
FM Frequency for the double feature is: 89.5 FM
About the films: MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, 2015, Warner Bros./Village Roadshow, 120 min, Dir: George Miller. More than 30 years beyond THUNDERDOME, George Miller (Academy Award nominee for Best Director) revisits his post-apocalyptic demolition derby. Tom Hardy takes the reins as drifter ex-cop Mad Max Rockatansky, whose wasteland survival skills are matched by those of Charlize Theron as Furiosa; together they hope to liberate the wives of the tyrannical Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne original MAD MAX baddie the Toecutter) in Millers critically acclaimed, non-stop thrill ride. DEATH RACE 2000, 1975, New World Pictures, 80 min, USA, Dir: Paul Bartel. In the year 2000, hit-and-run driving is no longer a felony - it's the national sport! In a dystopian future, economic collapse has pushed America into martial law; to keep the people pacified, the government has created the Transcontinental Road Race. Pro-wrestling-style drivers (David Carradine, Mary Woronov and a pre-ROCKY Sylvester Stallone among them) resort to any violence necessary to cross the finish line first, racking up bonus points for killing pedestrians. But resistance fighters hope to use the race to their own ends in Paul Bartel's satirical cult favorite. Notes regarding tickets:
