The ASF Institute of Jewish Experience's 3rd annual conference will focus on Western Sephardi (Spanish and Portuguese) traditions in their historical and modern-day contexts through an examination of the history, religious leaders, customs, liturgy, literature, arts, and material culture.
The conference will open with a liturgical concert featuring cantors from around the world, hosted by Congregation Shearith Israel.
The following day and a half will include sessions with scholars, artists, and community leaders from around the world.
The second evening will feature a concert by an Andalusian orchestra from Rabat, Morocco, with a flamenco twist.
The conference will conclude with a tour of Shearith Israel's first cemetery.
