This July, Go Alumni Theatre Society proudly presents 2 one-act comedies; Laundry and Bourbon & Lone Star, both written by the illustrious James McLure.

The Vietnam War has ended, Gerald Ford is in power, and we are placed under the scorching Texas sun in the mid-70's. Laundry and Bourbon and Lone Star are sister plays that give a glimpse into the lives of Elizabeth and Roy, a married couple from Maynard, Texas.

Laundry and Bourbon looks into the life of Elizabeth (Victoria Ahern), wife of a Vietnam Veteran. The play begins with Elizabeth folding laundry and drinking bourbon and Cokes with her friend Hattie (Melanie Germain). The two women discuss relationships, past lovers, and Roy's 1959 Pink Thunderbird Convertible. When Amy Lee (Marissa Davie), the town socialite, arrives and reveals that Roy has been seen around town with another woman, the troubles in Elizabeth and Roys marriage are slowly revealed, and Elizabeth has to learn that even though the past can never been re-lived, there might be hope for her future.

Lone Star takes us behind Angel's Bar. We find Roy (Dylan Leonard), husband to Elizabeth and veteran of the Vietnam War, drinking his sorrows away, wishing things were to go back to the way they were. His dull-witted younger brother, Ray (Tanner Bornowsky), comes out back to try and cheer him up. The two lament about the old days, the war, the friends they had, Roy's glorious 1959 Pink Thunderbird Convertible, and the uncertainty that awaits them. Ray's "friend", Cletis (Coan Roik), joins the picture despite Roy's absolute vexation towards him and arrives with untimely news. Lone Star will leave you with a heart full of ache, a belly full of laughter, and a second hand buzz as you visit an era gone by.
