Joyful music from Ellington's Sacred Concerts including It's Freedom and David Danced, performed by The Aardvark Jazz Orchestra and The Choir of First Parish in Concord. The program will include Ellington classics like Satin Doll, Solitude, and I'm Beginning to See the Light.
Aardvark is one of the longest-running large jazz ensembles in the world. The band is well known for its wide-ranging shows, from new music by founder/director Mark Harvey to classics and rarities by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Mary Lou Williams, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and other jazz legends.
The First Parish Choir, in addition to singing for Sunday services in Concord, Massachusetts, sings on holidays and prepares one or two larger choral works each year for special Music Sundays. The group has traveled to eastern Europe on several Transylvania musical pilgrimages and participates in festivals and concerts more locally as well. |
