Proceeds benefit The Juan Sanchez Rivera Fisherman's Association located in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, that are still needing to replace fishing equipment to work more efficiently and safely. This association of 19 fishermen, including divers, anglers, and net fishermen, who work together on 12 boats, reached out to La Isla Foundation, a volunteer-led non-profit organization located in Seattle, Washington, in hopes of acquiring donations that would allow this community to get back on the water to once again make their living as they did before the back-to-back hurricanes made landfall.

Paradisos del Sol Winery and Organic Vineyard bottles and cases and Island Soul Rum Bar & Soul Shack take-home food plates available for purchase.

Doors open at 7 p.m.

Co-sponsored by The Congregational Church on Mercer Island, La Isla Foundation, Opera on Tap: Seattle, Paradisos del Sol Winery and Organic Vineyard, Island Soul Rum Bar & Soul Shack and the Mercer Island High School Spanish Honor Society.

More about the La Isla Foundation:

In September 2017, two back-to-back hurricanes destroyed much of Puerto Rico's infrastructure that has resulted in more than 95% of the island without electricity and leaving the island in dire need of food and potable water. Quickly thereafter, volunteers in the Puget Sound area created the La Isla Foundation, a non-profit organization, to help meet this immediate need. Since its inception in early October of 2017, this active, volunteer-led organization has not only filled and delivered four large storage units with water, food for pet and human consumption, and emergency, medical, and hygiene supplies, but sorted through a plethora of donations to create just over 100 family care packages, over 120 first-aid kits, and filled 100 reusable bags of groceries for hurricane survivors. In the winter that followed, La Isla Foundation sent volunteers to distribute water filters and water filtration systems for community use. Six months after both hurricanes struck Puerto Rico, the La Isla Foundation is partnering with non-profit organizations on the island to establish more sustainable methods of long-term recovery.
