Brian Gephart has been a fixture on the Chicago jazz scene for many years. He is a prolific composer and recording artist, having seven releases to his name as leader or co-leader, as well as a vast discography of work on other artists' recordings. His own group performs regularly at the Jazz Showcase and they were featured at the 2015 Chicago Jazz Festival. Brian's most recent release, on Origin Records, is titled Standing on Two Feet. Back when I was presenting small jazz ensembles at The Whiskey Lounge, Brian appeared several times, on each occasion bringing something unique, clever and thought provoking, ranging from a tribute to Thelonious Monk to a band they called "The Brians" because everyone in the band was named Brian ... except for Fred. This week Brian will be bringing his "A" Team group of stellar Chicago musicians as they breeze their way through some well known classics and Brian's own compositions. It's going to be a swinging good time.

Join us. We'll be recording this performance for Chicago Jazz Live on WDCB, so you'll be part of the studio audience!
