Call to Mind: Spotlight on Mental Health Policy

MPR Headquarters, UBS Forum
St. Paul, MN

Sales have ended for this event.

Call to Mind, Minnesota Public Radio's mental health initiative, will host an interactive discussion with Minnesota public policy experts and mental health care systems leaders exploring why Minnesotans do not have  access to mental health care like they do for many other health services.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that more than half of Americans will experience a mental health condition in their lives, and one in five will do so this year alone. Yet many Minnesota counties report that people are unable to get appropriate care when they need it. This Call to Mind forum will examine why people who need medical attention are unable to access care, and why many service providers still point to funding concerns when mental health parity is federal law.

Panelists include:
Tony Lourey, Commissioner of Minnesota Department of Human Services
Jinny Palen, Executive Director at The Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs
Ezra Golberstein, Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management at the University of Minnesotas School of Public Health

Host: Mike Mulcahy, Politics Editor at MPR News
