On Saturday, December 1, 2018, we unleash 2018 Richard the Whale, our Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels. Tickets to this event are $75 (plus BPT fees). Please read everything carefully; there will be no exceptions to the rules below. The event will take place at our Iowa City location.

Ticket holders will receive:

-TWO 375 mL bottles of 2018 Richard the Whale
-ONE 375 mL bottle of 2018 Richard the Coffee Whale with JBC Roasters Coffee
-ONE 375 mL bottle of 2018 macaroon special variant Richard
-ONE 2018 Richard the Whale commemorative glass
-ONE 6 oz. pour of 2018 Richard the Whale

2018 SPECIAL RICHARD VARIANT - MACAROON
Inspired by the traditional dessert cookie, we chose two barrels of 2018 Richard and racked them into additional bourbon barrels that we had filled with as much house-toasted coconut as we could fit into the barrel. We then added house-roasted almonds to the mix. The coconut and almonds add a thick creaminess and sweetness that complement Richard's boisterous dark chocolate and barrel flavors.

GOLDEN TICKET - DOUBLE BARREL RICHARD
Similar to last year, the first one hundred (100) people through the door in the morning with a Ticket will receive a Golden Ticket. Each Golden Ticket will allow the holder to purchase one 375 mL bottle of Double Barrel Richard. For Double Barrel Richard, we took one of our favorite barrels of 2018 Richard that had been resting in a bourbon barrel for over a year, and racked it into a freshly-emptied Cedar Ridge Apple Brandy barrel, where it rested for an additional two months. The intermingling of bourbon and apple brandy notes with the roasty sweet stout base makes for a truly decadent experience that we are very excited to share with you. Bottles of Double Barrel Richard will be $25 for Golden Ticket holders. Only Ticket holders are eligible to receive Golden Tickets.

Just like last year, we will be loading up our tap lines with some very special beers, including 2018 Richard the Whale, 2018 Richard the Coffee Whale, Richard variants, and some special surprises. We will also have a breakfast buffet available for $12.50 (yes, we will again do unlimited bacon!). For those that came to last year's release event, expect a similar day of drinking, laughter, and good cheer.

SCHEDULE FOR THE EVENT:
8am - Doors open to Big Grove Brewery & Taproom (Iowa City). The first one hundred (100) people through the door will receive a Golden Ticket to purchase a bottle of Double Barrel Richard for $25.

8am - Our tap lines will be open and pouring special releases

8:30am - All-you-can-eat breakfast buffet opens ($12.50)

10am - Tapping of a TBA exclusive Richard variant

11am - Regular food menu available

12pm - Bottle pick up ends. Event continues with barrel-aged beers and cheer

All day - Drink beer with your friends and the Big Grove brewers

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
-This is an all ages event. Ticket holders must be 21, but all are welcome.
-This event is open to the public. Only Ticket holders will receive bottles.
-Bottles of 2018 Richard the Whale and variants will be available only to Pre-Sale Ticket holders. No additional bottles will be available for public sale during the event.
-Pre-Sale Ticket holders may pick up their bottles between 9am and 12pm during the event. Pre-Sale Ticket holders who fail to pick up their bottles during this time period will forfeit their bottles. We will not hold bottles past 12pm and we will not issue refunds to customers who fail to attend.
-If you plan to come early and wait in line, please clean up after yourselves. We will provide trash cans. Please do not bring open bottles into the taproom. We will form the line underneath our overhead patio heaters to help keep everyone warm.

PROXIES/TRUSTEES:
We will allow proxies for this event. No person may be a proxy for more than 2 other persons, meaning a single person can pick up a maximum of 3 total allotments (2 as a proxy and 1 as a ticket holder). If you elect to use a proxy, simply send that person your Print-At-Home ticket and have him/her bring it to the event. We will not be able to distribute bottles to proxies unless they have a valid Print-At-Home Ticket. Proxies will be able to pick up the commemorative Richard glass for each ticket, but will be entitled to only one 6oz. pour of 2018 Richard the Whale.

PRE-SALE RULES:
-All Ticket buyers must be 21 years of age or older at the time of purchasing the Ticket.
-Individuals may purchase only one Ticket. If an individual's name appears on more than one Ticket, all Tickets and bottle sales for that person will be null and void. This is to ensure more people have access to this release.
-We will be monitoring the line to ensure the first one hundred people receive Golden Tickets. Please be respectful of all attendees. If different members of your party arrive at different times, please do not invite them to join you at the front of the line.
-All Ticket holders and proxies must bring a valid photo ID. You do not need to bring a physical ticket with you unless you are proxying for someone else, in which case you must bring a physical ticket for each person not attending the event.
