Seattle boasts a city full of musical talent, and many of the ear-tantalizing sounds come from incredible artists who are Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC).

Momma Nikki presents a documentary featuring some of Seattles QTPOC music artists who face challenges with having their voices heard and stories told, especially in mainstream music.

You will be granted an inside look at how a growing city can block the development of remarkable artists. See what these artists do to get by each day, what relationships are saved or lost, and the impact that they ultimately want their music to have.

ABOUT MOMMA NIKKI

Momma Nikki, a QTPOC advocate and artist, wants to highlight the phenomenal queer music in her city. Although she is from the Greater Seattle Area, her music career developed from her Southern roots in Nashville, TN.

While attending school at Fisk University, a Historically Black College/University (HBCU), Nikki started to see herself as the artist she would eventually grow into. She toured with a group and was signed to a sub-label of Warner Brothers, but it just wasnt what any of them wanted. Nikki eventually left Nashville and came back to the Pacific Northwest, where she started to write with her current band, Holy Pistola. Being back home provided Nikki with her most significant growth to date.

With a background in photography, Nikki shoots videos all the while running the communications team in the new grassroots political organization, "The Seattle Peoples Party". Nikki has made countless videos for the campaign and will continue to put forth that passion in this documentary.

Though creativeness may feel limited on a budget, Nikki finds unique ways to tell not only her story but the communitys as well.
