Sales have ended for this event.

You should arrive at the Custom House Maritime Museum, 150 Bank Street, New London, CT, 15 minutes before scheduled departure time. Please wear non-slip shoes (no flip-flops or heals). Your boat ticket also gives you admission to the Custom House Maritime Museum, where a permanent exhibition on area lighthouses can be seen, and a 10% discount in the Museum Shop.

We're taking Project O's big blue boat out to Ledge Lighthouse with a team from TAPS - The Atlantic Paranormal Society (the group associated with the long-running 'Ghost Hunters' television series 2004-2016, but not the TV personalities). It's a fundraiser for NLMS & the local lighthouse preservation.

*** We're having a last-days ticket sale. The $125 ticket price is reduced to $75 -- a $50 savings! This special offer is available now through September 21, only. ***

Founded in 1990, the TAPS Home Team is made up of members of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (but who were not on 'Ghost Hunters').  These Investigators remain in New England helping clients in their homes and businesses.

Join Traci Boiselle (Case Manager/ Lead Investigator) and Cody DesBiens (Investigator) to learn the basic theories of the paranormal and why hauntings might occur. Explore the methods and equipment used by TAPS  to research the paranormal field.

Cody and Traci will share the legends and claims of the paranormal at historic Ledge Light & Race Rock, as well as results from TAPS investigations at both.

The event will provide plenty of time for questions and a sharing of evidence from actual TAPS investigations!

Logistics:
We meet at New London's City Pier, at the foot of State Street, 1 Waterfront Park, New London, CT.

Trips are weather-dependent.  *Be certain to check your email two hours prior to the trip for any last-minute changes or cancellations.*

Space is limited. Please make your reservation at least 6 hours in advance of the trip. Everyone must sign a waiver of liability before boarding. Guest cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

All passengers must wear appropriate footware: deck shoes or sneakers (no sandals or flip flops).

Our tours leave from downtown New London, just steps from the Amtrak Station. We cruise out past Harbor, Avery Point and North Dumpling lighthouses, along the way passing a submarine factory, two forts, and a USCG station.

Ledge Light (1909, along with the New London Harbor Light (est. 1760, current tower 1801) and Race Rock Light Station (1878) at the opening of Long Island Sound to the Atlantic, create a pathway of beacons leading from the Atlantic Ocean to New London. All three lights are now owned by the New London Maritime Society. Monies raised by these tours support restoration of our local lighthouses.

Tickets are non-refundable unless there is a weather cancellation. All tours are weather dependent. Please check your email inbox prior to departing for the dock. We will notify you by email if the tour is canceled.

Food and drink, with the exception of water, is NOT permitted on the boat. For safety reasons, NO alcoholic beverages are permitted.

New London Maritime Society also offers Sunset and Full-Moon Lighthouse Tours on an intimate 6-person boat (search on this site or go to nlmaritimesociety.org). Charter tours, too, are available for groups of up-to 50 - email nlmaritimedirector@gmail.com.

----------------

Background: Through the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000, New London Maritime Society now owns and preserves the three major lighthouses leading from the Atlantic into our historic port of New London: Race Rock, New London Ledge Light, and New London Harbor Light. This stewardship comes with a mandate from the federal government to provide preservation, education, and public access to the lighthouses.
All funds raised from these boat trips go towards lighthouse restoration!

Ledge Light Foundation has worked to preserve Ledge Lighthouse for over 40 years. LLFs accomplishments include both creating a museum at Ledge Light with 7 rooms documenting the history of LL and of the USCG personnel that served on the light, and continued restoration and maintenance to fix and repair mother natures mischief in terms of wind, rain and the unrelenting sea. Over the last two years, LLF has replaced 27 windows (using a matching grant from the State of CT), and applied a new coat of weather proofing sealant to the roof. They have accomplished this with the help of work crews from the Sea Scouts, the US Navy sub base and the USCG Academy.

The US Coast Guard maintains the lighthouse lanterns. All three lights are active aids to navigation.
