Duwane Pendarvis & Company Dance Theatre: Farewell to Chicago: "A New Beginning"

Mr. Pendarvis will be appearing in his final performance in the Chicagoland before relocating to his native home of Jackson, Mississippi to further pursue the next stage of his professional career, and to be close to family after a 20-year absence. Duwane receive three grants from the Arts Alliance of Jackson & Hinds County of MS, making his professional choreographic debut of Family with the Mississippi Ballet Company. He is an accomplished dancer, dance intstructor, choreographer, poet, singer, actor, model, and commercial artist. Duwane attended Tougaloo College (a Historically Black College) in Tougaloo, MS., where he was a Music Major and a Art Minor in Commercial Art. His professional travels and experience has taken him across the United States, Europe, and the Former Soviet Union. Duwane is a former Senior Company member of the world acclaimed Chicago-based Joel Hall Dancers, and also served as Artistic Director of Joel Hall Dancers II since its inception in 2001. Duwane also toured with the National Touring Company of Sesame Street Live, Department of Parks & Recreation-MS., Department of Parks and Recreation-Chicago, Isle of Capri (Headliner). Duwane has also worked with such artists as Melba Moore, The Staple Singers, Tony Bennett, Ted Lance, Robert Townsend, Lou Rawls, Freda Payne, The Emotions, Diane Reeves, and Ray Silkman to name a few.
Duwane would like to extend his most sincere thanks to all whom have supported him throughout his career, and offers this farewell performance as a token of his appreciation.
