Exhumed Films and PhilaMOCA present the Russ Meyer/Roger Ebert classic BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1970) on 16mm with bonus sexploitation trailers and an introduction by Meyer's friend Irv Slifkin.
Three female rock'n'rollers travel to Hollywood to claim an inheritance and are soon turned on to a whole new scene thanks to a kinky, Shakespeare-spouting music promoter with a fetish for the medieval. The girls' descent into Tinseltown's underworld is filled with drugs, sex, weirdos, and, ultimately, murder. Filled with odd twists and memorable music including an on-screen appearance by the Strawberry Alarm Clock, Meyer's first foray into "mainstream" filmmaking is a psychedelic freakout that continues to improve with age.
The film will be introduced by local film writer Irv Slifkin who will relate wild stories about hanging out with Russ Meyer.
