This trio recital is going to bring truly unique experiences to music lovers in Palo Alto.

The performance commenced with two Beethoven's trios for piano, clarinet and cello - Trio No.4, Op. 11 "Gassenhauer" and No.8, Op.38.

Second part of the recital will mark a tactful and appropriate programmatic transition from old musical world to new. The artists could not have been better suited to this work. Many of you had a chance to listen to this group first performance in Palo Alto two years ago. It was a delight to witness the enjoyment and the energy they brought to the Piazolla and Nino Rota. Now we expect a splendid occasion in which equal respect will be given to composers old and new, from a variety of genres and nations, through a remarkable ensemble performance.

A true "cross-over artist" and Benny Goodman's only student, Julian Milkis is an internationally acclaimed soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, and jazz clarinetist. The Hamburg Abendblatt praised his "Beautiful sustaining sound and great virtuosity"; the Edmond Journal called his performance of the Nielson Clarinet Concerto a "triumph", while Moscow's Nezavisimaya Gazyeta wrote, "simply the best clarinetist in the world!" Mr. Milkis has appeared on major world stages throughout the Far East, Europe, and the Americas: New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center; the Salles Pleyel and Gaveau, Paris; the Great Halls of the Moscow Conservatory and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic; Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall and Weston Recital Hall; and the National Concert Hall in Taipei, among others. He has been soloist with the Toronto Symphony, State Symphony Orchestra of Russia, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Vivaldi Chamber Orchestra, Hamburg Mozarteum, Edmonton Symphony, L'Orchestre Nationale de Lyon, L'Orchestre Symphonique Française, CBC Vancouver Orchestra, Divertissement Chamber Orchestra, Hermitage Chamber Orchestra, and Musica Viva.

Cellist Eugene Lifschitz has studied at conservatories in New York (Juilliard), Los Angeles (Colburn), Moscow Consevatory, and now Munich - apparently pursuing access to best teachers in the world. He performed as a Principal cellist in many renowned orchestras including Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, Spoleto Festival Orchestra, Orchester der Hochschule München, The Juilliard Symphony, San Francisco Youth Symphony, Moscow State Conservatory Orchestra. He was praised for stunning, richly varied and impressively musical recitals and as cocerto soloist around the world  Russia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Romania among others. The most recent (April, 2014) recital in Palo Alto was well attended by the South bay's appreciative community. He is a winner of several National and International completions, including recent First prize at International String competition in Padua, Italy, June, 2014.

Era Lifschitz is a frequent guest professor and pianist at several international music festivals including the International Academy of Music, which takes place every summer in locations such as Italy, Spain, Russia and New York. She has also been the artistic director for the "Sounds of Music Festival" in Palo Alto, California which is presented by the Oshman Jewish Community Center at the Albert & Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Hall. Ms. Lifschitz began her piano studies at the Gnessins Academy of Music in Moscow where she was a student of Theodore Gutman, a protege of Heinrich Neuhaus. While a student she received several honors as well as prizes in competitions. Following her graduation, she was a professor of piano at the Scriabin College of Music outside of Moscow. She currently has a private teaching studio, the "Arpeggione" in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the mother of the world-class pianist and conductor Konstantin Lifschitz and very promising young cellist Eugene Lifschitz.
