A free film screening of "Growing Cities" will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 22, at the A.E. England Auditorium, 424. N. Central Ave.
The documentary examines the role of urban farming in America and asks how much power it has to revitalize our cities and change the way we eat.
Phoenix Food Day sponsors are hosting the film and are asking attendees to bring a food item to donate to St. Mary's Food Bank. Items wanted: cereal (boxes & cereal bars-whole grain, low sugar), canned fruit and vegetables, rice , beans (canned or dried), pasta, tuna (canned or vacuum packed), canned soups, stews, chili and pastas, juice (canned, plastic or boxed).
