Yes, boys and ghouls, it's that time again, when Caffe Lena turns to the dark side for an evening of grisly, gruesome and goofy songs about bad things happening to good people.
Who's on the gibbet?
The dean of Saratoga singer songwriters, Michael Jerling, slays the Carter Family classic "John Hardy," among others. Blues merchants Mark Emanatian, Scotty Mac and Tom Dolan, in a tasty threesome, will assassinate a trio of bad man ballads, including Rev. Gary Davis' "Death Don't Have No Mercy." The always sweet, supremely soulful Bluebillies, led by Mel Guarino, will get salty with Grey DeLisle's "Big Yellow Peaches" and a pair of Johnny Cash classics. Downtown Albany rockers Charmboy promise to massacre downtown Saratoga in their Caffe Lena debut, getting modern with "Baby's Home" by The Lemonheads. Contemporary folk favorite and brilliant songwriter Kate McDonnell nods to the Man in Black with the quintessential "Long Black Veil." And rising star Carl Daniels channels Sean Rowe and Terry Callier with a deadly groove and devilish tunes.
