Self-described as "indie-folk-pop", Amy and the Engine features the singing and songwriting of Maine's Amy Allen, a two-time recipient of The Portland Phoenix's "Best Female Singer" award. The Berklee College-based band formed during the long Boston winter of 2013-4 and also includes Blain Crawford (bass), Ben Kling (mandolin and keys), Kathryn Hallberg (vocals), Vinny Silva (Lead Guitar) and Manuel Ruiz (drums). Their debut single "I Got You" was released to radio in June 2014 and an EP is due in the fall. The band has spent the summer of 2014 touring New England, opening shows for Rustic Overtones, The Mallett Brothers and Lady Lamb The Beekeeper, among others. They count among their influences The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Scissor Sisters, Paul Simon and Dr. Dog. |
