The legendary Algerian dancer Amel Tafsout comes to Eugene, Oregon July 26th, 2014, and will perform in a special evening show as a fundraiser for the children of Gaza. Amel Tafsout: master teacher, drummer, singer, is known worldwide for her soulful and authentic performances. Join Amel and friends in a close studio setting and help raise money for the children of Gaza in this time of crisis.

7:30-9pm "Fundraiser for the Children of Gaza: An Evening with Amel Tafsout and Friends." Doors open at 7pm for refreshments and show will open at 7:30pm with a Guerdra Dance Blessing ritual for Gaza. Performers include Amel Tafsout, Sabine, Tribalation, and troupe Azhaar guests. Experience Amel's magical singing, dance, and drumming of North Africa, in an intimate studio setting. $10. All profits go to help the children of Gaza in this time of crisis.

Additionally, Amel will present two ethnic dance workshops
10am-12pm: Guedra Ritual Dance of the Tuareg People of North Africa. Learn this ritual of clapping, singing, and dance that envelops all those present with good energy. Includes an opportunity to join Amel in the evening show and present the Guedra ritual dance for the group. $35 (SOLD OUT)

1pm-4pm Ancient Sounds of the Bendir: frame drumming, dance, and singing. Frame drums are one of the most ancient types of musical instruments. Learn a traditional North African song, how to play it, how to sing it, and how to dance to the music. $45
