Mary Jane Lamond and Wendy MacIsaac

Don Quixote's International Music Hall
Felton , CA

Sales have ended for this event.

The music of Scottish settlers brought over to the small island community of Cape Breton, off Nova Scotia, Canada over 250 years ago has been both pristinely preserved and evolved uniquely by the rich tradition of composing in the folk style. Among the most notable of the keepers of the flame today are the award-winning Gaelic singer Mary Jane Lamond and fabled fiddler of the Cape Breton supergroup Beolach fame, Wendy MacIsaac. Longtime friends, Mary Jane and Wendy's recently released album 'Seinn' (pronounced 'Shane' and meaning 'to sing and play together') landed atop a plethora of Top 10 lists for Album of the Year, including from National Public Radio, and won the prestigious East Coast Music Award as 'Group Recording of the Year.' The Guardian raved 'Anyone who has had the opportunity to hear Lamond and MacIsaac perform together could not help be struck by the chemistry between them. It's as if they were born to play together' and Tradconnect.com noted 'their music is effortlessly sublime.' Joined in concert by gifted guitarist Seph Peters and the Old Blind Dogs-like percussion of Cathy Porter, this will be closest you can come to experiencing a Cape Breton Kitchen Party without actually being there.
