Objectives:
Introduce the novel to our students, as well as to stimulate their passion for the specific crime novel area of this genre.
Analyze its structure and components.
Proposing activities and conflicts.

Activities:
The corpse looking for its murderer (the description).
The enigma of the empty chair (the relationship between characters)
The parable of the rapist murderer (the moral dilemma).

Contents:
Crime/mystery novel: The suspense (what both reader and character know). Crime novel - key points (honesty). Crime novel  traps.
The different types of crime novel: American, European, Mediterranean, etc.
The problem / challenge of the blank sheet.
The novel's structure (approach, conflict, solution).
The novel's components: Point of view, character, plot, space and time, etc.

José Luis Correa was born in Las Palmas in 1962. He is currently teaching at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. After completing a brief collection of award-winning short stories, José Luis starts a significant career within the novel genre and publishes Me mataron tan mal and Échale un ojo a Carla. Starting with Quince días de noviembre (2003), he successfully exemplifies noir fiction in Muerte en abril, Muerte de un violinista, Un rastro de sirena and Nuestra Señora de la Luna (2012). His work has been translated into German, Italian and Finnish.
