*Jessie Young (BFA Modern Dance, University of Utah) is a Chicago-based dancer, choreographer and photographer, moving here from Seattle, WA in 2008. She has performed in works by Carrie Hanson (The Seldoms), Jonathan Meyer & Julia Rae Antonick (Khecari Dance Theater) Erin Carlisle Norton (The Moving Architects), GoGo Vertigoat Dance (New York City, the A.W.A.R.D. Show), Rosa Vissers (Seattle), Kelly Sullivan (Seattle) Stimulate Dance (Seattle) Northwest Dance Syndrome (Seattle), Cindy Brandle (Cindy Brandle Dance Company), The Space/Movement Project, Eric Handman, Pamela Geber, Brent Schneider, Keith Johnson ( Keith Johnson/Dancers), David Dorfman and Deborah Hay. Her choreography has been featured by The Inconvenience, Links Hall and Chicago Dance Crash (Duets for My Valentine), featured in Dance Festival Northwest (Centralia, WA), the Festival International Teatro Susana Alexander (FISTA), Puebla, MX, and by AT&T for promotional performances in the greater Chicagoland area. She has performed internationally in France, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mexico and China. In addition to her professional dance career, Jessie has had numerous photography exhibits and contributes promotional photos to many dance and artistic ventures in the city. In addition to her project with ASH/LEIGH, she is currently working with Kristina Isabelle Dance Company (Chicago) and choreographer and director Julie Mayo (NYC); choreographing a new work for The LABoratory Dancers to premiere at Seattle's Velocity Dance Center (June 2013), and collaborating with Stephanie Acosta for "Dances Made to Order" (premiering in May 2013). Jessie is an artist in residence for the Chicago Public Schools through The Old Town School of Folk Music, teaching movement and yoga classes. |
