The Seattle International Dance Festival is producing Dancing with the Seattleites, a partner dancing competition in which amateur dancers compete with the help of experienced dancers in support of a good cause. On May 22nd, amateur dancers will be paired with instructors during an Audition Night at Excellence Health and Fitness (400 Dexter Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98109). Eight amateurs will be selected to prepare and then compete with their paired instructors. Your $50 entry fee gets you into Audition Night and, if you are selected to be a contestant, a minimum of three hours of preparation with a dance instructor (additional preparation time can be agreed between contestant and instructor). Contestant/instructor pairs will perform a two-to-three minute dance routine on June 15th at Van Voorst Plaza in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. A panel of judges will award prizes and all net proceeds will be donated to Morningside Academy (www.morningsideacademy.org).
