Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) co-produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and El Rio. The show, soon to celebrate its 9th year, takes place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District and showcases an eclectic, mix of intelligent, progressive comedians from the Bay Area and beyond.
This months event takes place on Thursday, January 19, the day before D-Day, aka the Inauguration. Expect some commentary from this months comedians: Maureen Langan, Joe Nguyen, Ash Fisher, David Lawrence Hawkins, and Lisa Geduldig.
Maureen Langan is a stand up comic and radio talk show host. Her solo show, Daughter of a Garbageman, will be making its US debut at The Marsh in San Francisco on February 2nd and will run through March 25th, with shows on Thursday at 8pm and Saturday at 5pm. TheMarsh.org). Maureen is grateful to be previewing excerpts from the show at El Rio. She has performed in the U.S, Canada, Europe, and South Africa. She has performed on Broadway with Rosie ODonnell and has opened for Joy Behar, Steven Wright, Dennis Miller, and Gladys Knight. Her TV appearances include Gotham Live, HBO, Red Eye, and Comics Unleashed. Jerry Stiller says, Maureen is to comedy what James Brown was to soul. Maureen is the host of KGO Radio's Hanging with Langan, which can be heard Sunday nights from 7-10pm.

Joe Nguyen is subtle but sharp, laid-back yet engaging. He is a smart slacker beloved by audiences for his easygoing delivery and good writing. At home in all venues from clubs to cafes, Joe is a regular at the Punch Line and other Bay Area clubs as well as a member of the local group Nightlife on Mars. www.Vietjew.com
Ash Fisher is a comedian, actor and writer. She is not a comedienne, an actress or a writeress. She currently co-produces and hosts the monthly comedy show "Man Haters" at the White Horse in Oakland and writes for Wear Your Voice Mag in Oakland. She was the 2012 Newcomer Runner-Up in the Ladies of Laughter Contest at Gotham Comedy Club in NYC and co-produced the 2014 Hella Gay Comedy Festival. She does voiceovers and illustration whenever someone lets her, and is a self-proclaimed selfie expert. Ash holds a B.F.A. in Theatre from NYUs Tisch School of the Arts, and Sallie Mae will never let her forget it.
David Lawrence Hawkins has been performing stand up for 9 years appearing at venues such as the SF Punchline, The Comedy Store, and the National Queer Arts Festival. He is also an artist whose paintings will be on display at the Glamarama Salon in San Francisco for a month beginning Easter weekend. Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer whos the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (celebrating its 25th Anniversary this December!); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion. She moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.
