Backcountry Film Festival
12 years of Winter Celebration!
Grab your outdoor bucket list and adventure buddies to tune into a night of human-powered winter celebration at the 12th annual Backcountry Film Festival. Produced by the Boise-based nonprofit, Winter Wildlands Alliance, the tour shows at the San Luis Obispo Guild Hall (formerly the Grange) on January 19th; doors open at 6:30 pm, films start at 7:00 pm.
The Backcountry Film Festival is renowned for its collaboration with filmmakers from all corners of the globe, ranging grassroots to professional. The festival provides a fresh line(up) committed to get everyone, van dwellers to weekend warriors, awakened to the powder as well as environmental initiatives happening all around the world.
All proceeds benefit local San Luis Obispo non-profit, Outside Now. Outside Now is a nonprofit organization that fosters holistic human development through nature connection. Their skilled mentors bring children of all ages into the sensory rich experience of deep nature connection.
We will host a raffle with prizes from many incredible sponsors to help raise funds for this amazing organization!
The Backcountry Film Festival is produced each year by Winter Wildlands Alliance as a celebration of the human-powered experience and a gathering place for the backcountry snowsports community. The festival will tour over 100 towns from November to late March. Funds raised at each screening stay in the local community to support human-powered recreation and conservation efforts, winter education and avalanche/safety programs and to raise awareness of winter land management issues.
Immerse yourself in a night of films that capture the spirit of winter. Adventure, environment and climate, youth outdoors, ski culture- youll find it all in this award winning lineup.
