Dont miss this fun-filled stage adaptation of Disneys Aladdin, presented by the HMS Performing Arts Academy, Dec. 9-10.
Based on the iconic animated film, with an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, Disneys Aladdin JR. is sure to send audiences soaring on a flying carpet ride filled with romance and adventure.
The production is directed by Swaine Kaui, an award-winning professional who has spent much of his career abroad, has now returned home to pursue his dream of sharing his experiences. He is doubly excited by the upcoming production, not only because of the enduring, classic nature of the story of Aladdin, but also because of the incredible talent of HMS's rising theatre stars.
"I am so proud of the students who have worked hard to make this show a reality", Kaui says. "Few things ignite the imagination of a young child more than performing on stage in front of a live audience. It is such a growing experience, and it is so rewarding to see how much these kids have grown since rehearsals began."
Here, our production will explore and discover what it is to be trapped in a class of society that forbids "street rats" to mingle with "royalty". We discover what it is to be accepting of who you are, the idea of freedom, and what true friendship looks like.
