Two young people, Matt and Luisa, live next door to each other and fall in love. However, their Parents are feuding and order them not to speak to each other. The two parents pretending to feud as a means to ensure that their children fall in love. El Gallo appears and offers the parents a staged kidnapping. El Gallo engages the help of a disheveled old actor, Henry, and his sidekick, Mortimer. When the three are "defeated" the feud is ended and the children and parents joined. Until it's revealed that their kidnapping and the feud were fake. Matt and Luisa are mortified, and the mutual recrimination quickly escalates into a real feud. Matt is eager to leave the provincial town. Henry and Mortimer then appear and lead Matt off into the real world. Luisa sees El Gallo, she asks him to take her away to see the world. El Gallo promises her a world of beauty and grandeur; at the same time, Matt gives a contrasting version of the cruel experiences that one can suffer. Luisa returns to find that El Gallo has left her, and sits in tears. Matt comforts Luisa, and he tells her a little about his experiences, and the two realize that everything they wanted was each other, they now understand that more deeply. The Parents then return joyfully and are about to tear down the wall, when they are reminded that the wall must always remain.
