A Night of L.A. Poets: Funny, Serious, Provocative

The Goethe Institut of Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA

Sales have ended for this event.

Laugh a lot with us.  Shiver just a bit with us.  Feel with us a great deal.  These four wonderful Los Angeles poets take on subjects as diverse as personal ads to bottled water, and fish to mechanics. These are not our parents' poets.  They are not, fortunately, the canonized writers taught in survey English classes. (Ok, some of those canonized poets are great.  But some arent. And they are nowhere as fun, funny, or engaging as ours.)

These poets, Kim Dower, Stephanie Hammer, Ron Koertge and Angela Peñaredondo, listed in alphabetical order, tell us great stories in a page. More than that, they tell us of moments in time, preserved in a magical construction and confluence of words funny, poignant, wistful and wishful.  These poets, they tell us stories from their day, from their memories, and we fill in everything else with our own stories, our own memories, our own wishes, and our own sense of the absurd.   These poets, Kim, Stephanie, Ron and Angie, they don't just read their poetry to us--they perform it, they entertain us, and they leave us wanting more.
