Red Herring has demonstrated its expertise with previous Beckett productions. Its 1993 production of Endgame received critical acclaim and put the fledging company on the Columbus cultural map. The extra ordinary success of its 1995 production of Waiting for Godot catapulted Red Herring to the forefront of local, semi-professional theatre. Executive Producer Michael Garrett Herring was instrumental in both efforts as director of each production while playing Clov in Endgame and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Furthermore, Mr. Herring has played Krapp in Becketts Krapps Last Tape twice; first under the direction of Kathy Burkman in 1997 and then in 2013 under the direction of John Dranschak. In this production of Endgame, Red Herring has hired Vern Hendrick and Keely Heyl to co-direct the production with Herring playing Hamm. Vern Hendrick is a trained actor, a seasoned director, and Beckett scholar who directed Endgame in 2014 for Columbus Civic Theatre. Keely Heyl worked with Hendrick on that production as well as other productions with Columbus Civic. The collaboration of these three artists will establish the foundation on which Red Herring will build an extraordinary ensemble and produce a world class production of Endgame. |
