Set during the Montreal Expo of 1967 in the Summer of Love, Being at Home with Claude by French Canadian playwright Rene Daniel Dubois is a fascinating account of one young man's inability to deal with the love he is facing.

Yves, a young male homosexual hustler, comes from a broken home and has been hustling all of his adult life. He has disconnected himself from the tender aspects of life in order to do his job. When he falls in love with another young man, he cannot fathom ever being able to forget his past life, and in a fit of passion of remorse about the past, present, and future, kills his lover, Claude.

This is actually the back story of the play, which is revealed slowly within the text itself. The whole text is a continuous 90 minute interrogation of Yves by a middle-aged detective named Robert, with a little help from a couple of other cops. The play ends with Yves finally recounting to the detective why he killed Claude in a haunting 30 minute monologue about the nature of love as he sees it.
