                           Accent Theater Company Presents

                                    "CHEKHOV.POSTSCRIPTUM"

PostScriptum is a unique, intimate play based on Chekhov's timeless classics: The Seagull, Uncle Vanya, The Cherry Orchard, and Three Sisters,created by the iconic, internationally acclaimed director Adolf Shapiro.

Shapiro's production "is a cogent reminder that Russia was the birthplace of director's theater, back when this company's namesakes, Constantine Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko, were in their heyday."

                                    The New York Times

Presented at the Theater District's landmark theater in New York City, made possible by the generous collaboration of Legendary Moscow Art Theater director Adolf Shapiro and actors of the Accent Theater Company, this unique and rare production is a must-see for theater aficionados and new fans alike.

For more than half a century, Mr. Shapiro has staged highly acclaimed productions across three continents. His legendary Cherry Orchard is the longest running production of that play anywhere, receiving sold-out performances at the Moscow Art Theater for almost two decades.

Adolf Shapiro was a student and successor of Maria Knebel, who was a student of Constantine Stanislavsky and Michael Chekhov. Shapiro has earned a worldwide reputation as a preeminent interpreter of Chekhov's work and is presently an honorary doctor of acting/directing programs and workshops at several universities in Europe, Russia, and the United States, including Harvard University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Indianapolis and the University of Chicago.

Mr. Shapiro has been the recipient of numerous international awards, including the State Prize of Russian Federation, the Golden Mask Theater Award, the International Stanislavsky Theater Award, and the literature award for his book, When the Curtain Falls.

Arrivals and departures; meetings and partings;
swift glances that decide the fate...
Episodes of life are points of coincidences that predetermine and form the line of our destiny.
All this is Chekhov...
And also - love, as the highest blessing, given to us from above as a source of dramas and comedies of each of us and the theater.
