Harlem has been called the cultural capital of Black America. It is the home to the Harlem Renaissance, literary, political and cultural giants like Langston Hughes, Madame C.J. Walker, Malcolm X and W.E.B Dubois. This tour tells the stories of the pioneers and the visionaries that made Harlem great from its early Dutch settlers to the leaders of civil rights movement. It also explores the forces that are shaping modern Harlem including gentrification. Stops could include: Abyssinian Baptist Church, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Striver's Row, the Apollo Theater, the former site of Big Apple Nightclub and much more. Please arrive 15 minutes prior tour departure time.
