Ironweed Productions celebrates its 10th Anniversary with Arthur Miller's riveting masterpiece, Death of a Salesman. Continuing its mission to produce plays rooted in the American experience, Ironweed will again team with the Santa Fe Playhouse to present this extraordinary play, running July 16th August 2nd, 2015 at the Santa Fe Playhouse.
The production, directed by Ironweed founder and Artistic Director Scott Harrison, features several artists in the cast returning to Ironweed, including Campbell Martin and Mary Beth Lindsey (Our Town, 2012), Larry Glaister (Our Town, 2012 and Buried Child, 2013), Jonathan Dixon (Doubt: a Parable, 2008) and Todd Anderson (American Buffalo, 2011). Also featured are several actors new to Ironweed but well-known within the Santa Fe theater community, including Elizabeth Wiseman, Peter Chapman, Jonathan Harrell, Nicholas Ballas, Warren Houghteling, Kirste Plunket, Jody Hegarty Durham and Maureen Dolan.
The lights come up on Willy Loman, a 63-year-old travelling salesman, returning home in exhaustion from yet another failed business trip. Tormented by "strange thoughts," Willy can hardly keep his car on the road let alone provide for his family. The return home of his oldest son Biff, a drifter on whom Willy has placed all his dreams and aspirations, launches Willy and the entire family on a whirlwind odyssey of longing, memory, guilt and searing regret as they try to come to grips with what went wrong with a future that, seventeen years before, seemed limitless. The line between past and present begins to blur as the long-buried event that changed everything threatens to surface and ultimately hurls Willy and his family towards a stunning conclusion. A story of gritty and unflinching hopes, as well as an indictment of the myth of the American Dream that "a man can end with diamonds here on the basis of being liked," Death of a Salesman promises a provocative and powerful evening of theater.
There will be a preview performance on Thursday, July 16th at 7:00pm and a Gala Opening performance on Friday, July 17th at 7:00pm. Tickets for the Gala Opening are $25. For all other performances, tickets are $20 General Admission; $15 for seniors, students, teachers and the military; and $10 on Thursdays.
