Agamemnon presented by US Presents and Kathryn Philbrook at Dukesbay Theater in Tacoma May 29 - June 14, 2015

Aeschylus's AGAMEMNON, translated by Peter Meineck directed by Kathryn Philbrook to be presented at Dukesbay Theater May 29  June 14, 2015. Tickets $15 General Admission and $10 for Students/Seniors.

US Presents joins forces with director/producer Kathryn Philbrook to present Aeschylus's AGAMEMNON, translated by Peter Meineck. May 29 - June 14, 2015 at Dukesbay Theater (508 South 6th Avenue #10, Tacoma, WA 98405). Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

A while back (sitting backstage during Harlequin's production of Jesus Christ Superstar) a decision was made. "I want to direct you in something," Kathryn Philbrook said to Tacoma-based actress, Samantha A. Camp. "Sure. Okay." was Samantha's reply. About six months later, Philbrook approached Camp again. "What about Agamemnon?" "Absolutely! What do you need me to do?" Camp said. It was decided that Camp's company  US Presents  would assist Ms. Philbrook in producing along with Gail Thomason (as Ms. Philbrook had no previous producing experience). Several meetings, schedulings and reschedulings later and voila! Agamemnon is coming to fruition. Starring Brian Jansen as Agamemnon, Carrie Ivory as Cassandra, Glenn Guhr as Aegisthus (and Ms. Camp as Clytemnestra), Agamemnon also features Emily Robinson, Tony Hicks and Alex Johnson. Choreography by Katie Lappier with original music by Alexander Ingle. This will be Ms. Camp's final production in the South Sound before moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in July.

"Greek Theater is awesome and rarely done.  There are no good or bad guys, there are heroes faced with terrible choices and no clear right answer.  It forces you to think about your own ethics.  It is brutally violent and brutally logical.  Plus, there is lots of blood, poetry, music and dance.  What's not to love?" says Philbrook. "Plus, the political is personal and the personal is political: all of the violence that happens in the play ultimately comes down to some very personal murders.  We also get to explore how families and loved ones deal with vengeance when we've been wronged.

Tickets $15 for general admission/$10 for Students and Seniors. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00p.m. Due to the nature of the performance space, there will be NO late seating.
