NO LATE SEATING. It's 1965 in the white slums of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Hello and Goodbye is the story of Johnny and Hester Smit, a brother and sister. Johnny has been looking after his father, a former railway worker who was disabled in an explosion. Hester, Johnny's older sister, returns after a 15-year estrangement. As one of Fugard's early works, Hello and Goodbye is largely apolitical, more focusing on family dynamics and the feelings of what one is "owed." Bluebird Arts' production will feature Jaimelyn Gray as Hester Smit, and Aaron Lawson as Johnny Smit. The Production Team includes Carl Ulaszek (Lighting and Set Design), Rick Sims and Brandon Reed (Sound Design), Diane Robinson (Dialect Coaching), Rachel Boylan (Costume Design), Kirk Anderson (Fight Choreography), and Anna Lafontant (Stage Management). |
