Winner of New York's 2006 Night Life Cabaret Award
This original, quick-witted two-man song-and-dance show is a delicious cross between a tarnished vaudeville revue and a Hope & Crosby road picture. Built on a deliberately thin premise (two con men posing as an act to hide from the law), it is, in reality, just a great excuse for two talented comic actors to perform a wild collection of hilariously silly and obscure songs by everyone from Noel Coward to Dave Frishberg, and even some from the old vaudeville trunk. One audience member was heard to exclaim, "I laughed so hard, I swallowed my gum."
The show stars Eric Leviton ("Kinky Boots," "The Full Monty") and Michael Kostroff ("The Producers," "Les Miserables") who say the concept developed from a desire "...just to sing a bunch of funny songs for our friends." Richmond Shepard of lively-arts.com raves, "These men are stars, and it's a privilege to see a show this good, this polished, where every song is a delight, every dance is choreographed to perfection, and every joke works."
Rob Lester of Talkin' Broadway called it "...high-energy, broadly comic non-stop entertainment. Playing off each other as mutual foils, they reel off one specialty number after another, full of tricky lyrics and high spirits." Peter Leavy of Cabaret Scenes called it "an hour-plus of sheer nonsensical fun." And David Finkel of Backstage.com said, "If I had to pick a favorite number, I'd pick them all...it rarely does get any better than this." |
