Due to production issues, 'night, Mother has been postponed until early 2015.
Theatre Ventoux reopens with a production of Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize winning drama.
When Jessie announces that she intends to commit suicide in a few hours, she and her mother embark on a ninety minute conversation that forces them to confront years of unresolved emotional trauma. Their conversation is by turns devastating, funny, and thoughtful, and as the play rockets inexorably toward its inevitable finale, mother and daughter come to understand each other for what may well be the first - and last - time.
Founded in 2008 by Greg and Lisa Taber, Theatre Ventoux has become renowned for tackling ambitious and challenging material with vigor and heart. Past productions include This Flattering Glass (an original adaptation of Richard II), 12 Angry Men, and Childe Byron. The company went on hiatus in late 2011, and 'Night, Mother marks the company's return to the stage.
The production is rated PG-13 due to its dark and intense subject matter. |
