ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Jeremy Enigk:

Enigmatic Seattle legend Jeremy Enigk rose to fame in the mid-90s as frontman of the seminal emo band Sunny Day Real Estate. After releasing two critically acclaimed albums on Sub Pop, Sunny Day Real Estate disbanded and Enigk began a solo career, debuting in 1996 with the rich, symphonic Return of the Frog Queen, which has since become a cult classic. In 1998, Sunny Day reunited and released two more albums, before officially parting ways again in 2001, when Enigk formed The Fire Theft. After releasing one album with that band, Enigk returned to his solo career, releasing World Waits, Missing Link, and OK Bear.

2016 marks the 20th Anniversary of Jeremys debut solo album Return of the Frog Queen.

"Sunny Day Real Estate album, Diary will always be in a class of its own. Its like the Thriller or the Nevermind of that punk-born subgenre called emo  insomuch that it has influenced countless albums to follow" - Stereo Gum

Laura Gibson

An American folk singer and songwriter. She was raised in Coquille, Oregon, and is now based in the Portland area.
With themes related to the pacific northwest, Gibson writes songs on a nylon-stringed guitar. In November 2004, she self-released an EP, Amends, produced and engineered by Drew Grow, on a laptop, in a house in Newberg, Oregon.Songs have described as, "haunting portraits of nostalgia and intimacy, of loneliness and wide-eyed hope".

The La Grande Songfacts reports that Laura Gibson's fifth album is titled after La Grande, a small town situated in the forests of the Pacific Northwest where she parked her trailer and wrote and recorded the ten tracks that make up the record. It was released in January 2012.

Gibson's latest album Empire Builder was released April 1st, 2016 on Barsuk Records / City Slang.

The sound of a confident artist stretching her own limits, without losing sight of the warmth, richness, subtlety and haunted beauty that made her worth celebrating in the first place. NPR / National Public Radio

As a songwriter shes preoccupied with those timeless questions of the human conditionThemes of love, loss, regret, and mortality crop up often, and, significantly, theyre well-served by the surrounding songcraft.  Pitchfork

Tomo Nakayama:
A singer and songwriter from Seattle, whose work both as a solo artist and with his chamber pop band Grand Hallway have been praised by NPR, New York Times, and KEXP. Known for his crystalline high-tenor voice, intricate fingerpicking, cinematic production style, and simple, poetic lyrics influenced by the images of the Pacific Northwest, Tomos music has drawn comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon, and Sigur Ros. He has also composed music for film and television, and starred alongside Ellen Page as an actor in Lynn Sheltons Sundance Grand Jury nominated movie Touchy Feely.

"His gracefully delicate coos carry introspective lyrics of love and wistful solidarity which grow as notes stream from his fingers through rapidly fingerpicked guitar strings or slowly depressed piano keys. Then, once theyve germinated, Yuuki Matthews comes in with bursts of spontaneous chattering synthesized bustle, allowing the songs to fully blossom. Its digital naturalism that pulsates with life and humanity." - Seattle Met

IMPORTANT & UNUSUAL EVENT DETAILS:

SEATING:
To create a "giant living room" effect we offer an unusual concert experience with informal seating on the floor up front surrounding the stage and lots of pews, benches, and chairs around the space.

We highly recommend you bring blankets and cushions to create a more comfortable experience whether sitting on the floor or pews/benches.
Quiet and non-messy snacks/picnics are allowed. No outside alcohol please.

QUIET:
Please actually silence all devices. Turn off vibrate, rings, etc.
NO CAMERAS WITH MECHANICAL SHUTTERS  (This goes for Press too unless approved to shoot during applause only.)  That means silent digital cameras/photos are ok but we really recommend you enjoy most of the show through your own 'retina screens'.

Anyone exhibiting loud or disruptive behavior during the event will be asked to leave.

Absolutely no talking during the performances please, this room is very live acoustically and everyone will hear you. :-)  We are unable to provide a separate room for viewing this event if you are not able to be silent, so please plan accordingly before purchasing tickets.  These shows are very very pin drop quiet so please consider that when deciding what ages are appropriate.  No cry room available at this venue and even voices in the lobby will be heard in the concert space.
