Oregon Campus Compact is hosting a 6-hour institute taught by Dr. Christine M. Cress of Portland State University & Dr. Stephanie T. Stokamer of Pacific University on the power of community-engaged learning pedagogy and practice as a critical tool in every professional's toolbox who wants to promote equity and empowerment for students of color and first generation college students.
Session Outcomes: Trainees will share common understanding of the role of Campus Compact in higher education, basic principles of community engaged learning, and data on racially based educational inequities; Trainees will connect their personal experiences and passions to the institute topic to promote deeper and more extensive use of community engaged learning in higher education in Oregon; Trainees will learn about best practice models from across the country; Trainees will get hands-on experience mapping courses and linking learning objectives to community-based learning approaches for delivering content, promoting learning, and developing projects.
Registration fees include coffee, light refreshments in the morning, full lunch, and access to training powerpoint and materials online. |
